Your trail plan for the weekend

Hi there,

This week we’re pointing you toward Mount Pisgah Trail, a short but steep climb that ends with a summit view over the French Broad River valley. It’s 1.3 miles, rated moderate to strenuous, with a steep, rocky second half. If that sounds like more than you want, we’ve also got two gentler options nearby: an easy-to-moderate waterfall loop at Graveyard Fields and a moderate walk at Craggy Gardens. Conditions can shift quickly this time of year, so check the official page before you head out.

Mount Pisgah Trail

Mount Pisgah Trail is 1.3 miles and rated moderate to strenuous. The second half is steep and rocky as you near the top. Your reward is a summit view looking out over the French Broad River valley. Give yourself time to move carefully on the upper section, and check current trail conditions on the official page before you go.

Why go this weekend

If you want a real sense of accomplishment paired with a wide-open view, this is the kind of trail that delivers both. The climb asks something of you, especially near the top, but the payoff at the summit — that long look over the French Broad River valley — makes the effort worthwhile.

Before you leave

Before you go: Mount Pisgah Trail is rated moderate to strenuous, and the second half is steep and rocky, so wear sturdy footwear and give yourself time. Check the official page for current trail conditions before you leave, since they can change.
