North Mills River

North Mills River Recreation Area is a quiet Forest Service campground on the Mills River in the northern Pisgah District, about thirty minutes south of Asheville. Sites are first-come or reservable, simple and well spaced, with vault toilets and river access for wading and trout fishing.

Trails leave straight from the campground into the Mills River and Trace Ridge area, a favorite for hikers and mountain bikers who want fewer crowds than the Brevard side of Pisgah.
