Cove Creek Gap – Gooseberry Knob

Follows the Cataloochee Divide Trail to Gooseberry Knob before returning (in and out). Generally moderate despite the length, with good views into the Smokies year-round. Difficulty: Very Difficult (rated A-AA). Mileage: 11.7 miles. Elevation gain: 2,450 ft. Meeting points: Home Depot off Exit 44 of I-40 at 8:00 AM, or Pilot Truck Stop off Exit 24 of I-40 at 8:30 AM.
