The Outcroppings Trail, at Chimney Rock State Park, is a short but strenuous stairway climb to the top of Chimney Rock itself. It covers 0.2 mi one way, rated Strenuous, featuring a series of staircases and lookout points threaded through a near-vertical boulder field, leading directly to the summit of Chimney Rock; an elevator alternative exists for visitors with mobility limitations.
